John Wick 3 has guns. Lots of guns. A lot of people get shot. A lot of people die. It’s somewhat lighter on story, with long action sequences. Wick’s character is pretty much in the same situation when the movie ends as he is when the movie starts.

The John Wick films are basically gun porn. Parabellum is no different. It’s more of the same of the first two, which is not a bad thing.

Spoilers Incoming…

What I don’t understand is why Wick travels all the way out into the desert to get his excommunicado lifted, cuts off his own finger as a pledge of his fealty, agrees to kill Winston as a display of his fealty, and then doesn’t do it when the time comes.

Guns. Lots of guns.

I can understand a change of heart, but he cut off his own finger for nothing – and then, as thanks, Winston tries to kill him to get his hotel back. Wick jumps off the top of the hotel to escape, hits the ground hard, should be dead from the fall, but is somehow still alive at the end of the movie.

In spite of that, it was refreshing seeing something Disney had nothing to do with. John Wick 3 is the first movie I’ve seen in a theater in almost a year and a half, and I’m looking forward to seeing the already-announced John Wick 4 in two years.

P.S. Interesting fun-fact: ‘Parabellum’ essentially means ‘prepare for war’ in Latin. Fitting. Don’t mess with a man’s dog.
