A few months ago, Beamdog Studios and Skybound Games announced they would be bringing a handful of classic PC RPGs to the Switch.
- Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition
- Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition
- Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
- Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition
- Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
- Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition
They’re packaging them as:
- Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
- Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition, Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
- Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition
Each package is $50.
I’m torn about how these games are being sold, and for how much. The Baldur’s Gate package is a good deal for the $50 asking price. The Planescape package, not quite as good for $50, but still acceptable. However, the Neverwinter Nights price is too high.

Publishers like Capcom with the Resident Evil Switch ports, and now Skybound Games, keep pushing the envelope with their prices on their older titles, when you can get them sometimes for a quarter of that price for PC on a good sale.
These games are classics and should be played, but if the prices are inflated, there is zero reason to buy them if you have even a decent PC to play them on. These publishers must think Switch owners are completely oblivious of PC gaming.
I remember playing the original Baldur’s Gate in 2000 on my old PC with my 16 MB Voodoo video card. The game came on four discs that you had to switch out whenever you went to a new area of the game. Even then, I only payed $20 for it, since it was a two year-old game. That was vanilla Baldur’s Gate, without the expansions that come in this $50 package.
If you wait for a Steam or GOG sale, you can usually get all these games on PC for less than $10. The most they should be on Switch is $20 per title. If you get them on Switch, it might be smart to wait for a sale. I love how many PC ports the Switch is getting, but not the inflated prices. For that alone, I’ll be passing on these Switch ports.
