Simply put, Final Fantasy VII Remake looks incredible. Turn-based battles are out, replaced by real-time combat, with seamless transitions between characters. Strategy still plays a role, as you can stop time to issue commands when your ATB meter fills. Plus, a story that significantly expands on the game’s original. It looks, sounds, and feels like the Midgar we know.
After lukewarm receptions to Square-Enix’s last couple single-player Final Fantasy games, the reception for Final Fantasy VII Remake has been impassioned to say the least.
I sincerely hope this makes its way to PC eventually. They mention hotkeys in the presentation, which sounds like they are possibly making it with PC in mind. As for coming to other consoles, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony has exclusivity locked up tight. The original Final Fantasy VII is the game that put the original PlayStation on the map.
If this is the future of their RPGs, I’m going to be playing a lot more of Square-Enix’s games. Will they stop with remaking Final Fantasy VII? What about Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX? Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross?
This game is going to sell a bajillion copies and will have PlayStation 4 hardware flying off shelves.
