I finally watched the gameplay demo to Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt Red showed off months ago. I know I’m late to the party on this demo, but my ‘do want’ meter for this game has shot up from about a 5/10 to a 10/10 after watching it.

The combat looks good. The world looks compelling. Some of the extreme body modifications are almost shocking. Admittedly, some of the writing and language seems a little over the top, even for as gritty of a world as this one, but it’s an unfinished game. Hopefully, that will improve.

I don’t even want to know how big of a download this game is going to be when it’s finished. CD Projekt Red is already talking about expansions on the same level they did for The Witcher games. Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a monster. The open world looks incredibly big and dense.

I get that it’s a controlled demo of an unfinished game, but it still looks very impressive. Almost too good. I have a soft-spot for first-person adventure/RPGs. Metroid Prime, System Shock, Deus Ex, and now Cyberpunk 2077 – with Keanu Reeves as a major character.

If CD Projekt Red can pull off a full RPG that is as compelling as this demo, this is going to make a lot of Game of the Year lists in 2020.
