This made too much sense for Nintendo not to do it, especially with Pokemon Sword and Shield coming out in November. At a $200 price point and a shiny new Pokemon game for younger gamers, retailers might have trouble keeping this in stock come holiday time.

However, even though I play my Switch exclusively in handheld mode, the Switch Lite isn’t for me. I’m happy with the Switch I have, and the Switch Lite doesn’t offer anything my Switch doesn’t already do. In fact, the Switch Lite doesn’t have HD rumble, and I love force-feedback in my games.

As for the colors, the yellow is hideous. The turquoise is nice, if not a bit gaudy. The grey is a bit bland, but okay. If I were to buy one, I would go with the turquoise. They have a light-grey Pokemon-themed version with colored buttons as well.

The Nintendo Switch Lite – releasing on September 20, 2019.

I’m glad Nintendo announced a Switch Lite and not a New Switch Pro. I’m sure they eventually will release a more powerful Switch with more features, which is fine. My only concern is if they make exclusive games for it, or start gating Nintendo Switch Online games behind it they way they did Super Nintendo games on New 3DS.

Overall, this is a great move by Nintendo. The Switch Lite and Pokemon Sword and Shield will sell a bajillion units this holiday.
