While we still haven’t yet gotten the full-blown Nintendo Direct Switch fans have been waiting for, we did get a 20-minute Indie Direct showcase on Tuesday.

Still no Hollow Knight: Silksong. We haven’t heard or seen anything about it since last E3. Hopefully, we get an update on it soon. There’s no E3 this year to show it off, so I’m very curious if it’s going to make its 2020 release window. Team Cherry seems to be taking the ‘it will release when it’s finished’ approach. They set a high bar for themselves with the first game – a very high bar. I’m content to wait as long as it takes. I just hope the game is progressing well.

Exit The Gungeon looks ridiculously hard, but the great news for me is that, since it’s a 2D game, given how bad I am at twin-stick shooters with analog sticks, I’ll be able to play this one on the Switch.

The standout game from this Direct was Baldo – an action-RPG with a great art style. Even though it’s hard to tell from the few minutes of footage, it made a good first impression on me.

I love how gung-ho Nintendo has become about indie games. It’s a far cry from their Wii days when they were limiting indie developers on how big their game could be because they didn’t want to add SD card support to the system, which is why games like Super Meat Boy never made it to the Wii.

Overall, a solid Indie Direct. Rumors are that we’ll be getting a full-blown Direct before the end of the month.
