Nintendo’s announcement of a $30 price increase for its Expansion Pack to play Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games on its Nintendo Switch Online service didn’t go over well at all with fans. However, you would expect at that premium cost, Nintendo would have the Nintendo 64 games they’re offering running at peak efficiency on the Switch, right? Right???

Wrong.

As if the massive price increase wasn’t enough, the games you’re paying a premium for don’t even run well. To make it worse, Nintendo is charging $50 for the wireless Nintendo 64 controllers.

If it’s the Genesis games you want, you can go on the eShop right now and get the Sega Genesis Collection for $30. It has just about every Genesis game worth playing – over 50 games total. Or you can wait for a holiday sale and get it for even cheaper.

Nintendo continues to act like they’re the only video game company out there offering a subscription service for games, and a marketplace doesn’t already exist with Microsoft’s Game Pass and Sony’s PlayStation Plus. Don’t give Nintendo your money for this. Sign up for the $20 a year subscription if you must, but do not reward Nintendo for this shoddy laziness by giving them extra money for the Expansion Pack until they fix this mess.
