A few years ago, I wrote about my favorite video game content creators. Very high on my list was Nintendo Minute. It was hosted by Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang and usually featured the latest and greatest from Nintendo’s games and hardware. New game demos, unboxings, shopping sprees, live updates from game conventions, interviews, board games, and other hijinx were regularly featured on the show.

On Friday, they announced that they’re ending the series. No reason was given, but it’s probably because Nintendo is closing their Redwood City office where Kit and Krysta worked, and where they made their Nintendo Minute episodes.

Nintendo Minute was great because it was Nintendo’s YouTube series to their fans. It wasn’t fancy, it didn’t have exorbitant production values, but it was entertaining and adorable, and it was very Nintendo.

I have no idea if Nintendo has plans for any kind of new video series to fill the void in the future. Something from The Treehouse would be great, or maybe we’ll see Kit and/or Krysta pop up again in the near future if they’re still working at Nintendo. It was just sad to see such a fun series from Nintendo come to an end after so many years of putting out wholesome and entertaining content.

Kit and Krysta from ‘Nintendo Minute’.

We got to know them as gamers. Krysta was really good at ARMS, while Kit was good at…everything else. Kit usually won when they played anything against each other competitively. Krysta always took it well when she lost, while Kit humorously didn’t take it quite as well. Krysta admitted she tears-up playing games like Fire Emblem because of the story, while Kit admitted that he shows up to work on his days off to play games. Isabelle from Animal Crossing is Krysta’s spirit animal, while Kit’s favorite Nintendo character is Wario. Krysta’s favorite game of all time is Super Mario World and Kit’s was Super Mario 64 (until Zelda: Breath of the Wild unseated it).

It always seemed like Nintendo Minute had potential to be more than it was. Kit and Krysta had good chemistry in the humorous way that somewhat argumentative siblings are entertaining. I was hoping Nintendo would someday expand the show out to something bigger, but for whatever reason, they never did.

Kit and Krysta, you will be missed. I know I speak for the rest of your fans when I say we hope we haven’t seen the last of you. Good luck in your future endeavors, wherever they take you.
