Nintendo finally decided to let us see Tears of the Kingdom and spent the whole demo addressing two of the biggest requests from Breath of the Wild: a crafting system that looks like it extends well beyond weapons, plus an ability to quickly scale objects provided they have a ceiling for Link to pass through.

The fuse system will hopefully mitigate weapon-breaking and extend to traditional weapons like swords, etc. Aonuma demoed how it can be used with a bow and arrow. The ascend ability will hopefully mitigate having to deal with rain while Link is climbing. Nintendo is obviously still holding a lot back.

This might be all we see of Tears of the Kingdom before it comes out in May. I don’t know how Nintendo is going to market a game they don’t want to talk about before release, but they seem content to rely on Breath of the Wild’s popularity and word-of-mouth. There’s still a lot of unanswered questions, and Nintendo seems to want players to know as little as possible going in. We still don’t know about dungeons, shrines, enemies, story, NPCs, side-quests, etc. It’s hard to be super-excited for Tears of the Kingdom without knowing more about it, but what they’ve showed is intriguing.
