NFL Films’ new Netflix show Quarterback features Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota in which their life as an NFL football player is put on display. You see what their home life is like, what their practice and training routine entails, and you see interactions between them and other players on the field, and in the locker room, usually not accessible to fans. It’s an inside look at life as an NFL quarterback.

Quarterbacks get hit a lot that you don’t see when you’re watching the game on TV. If you’ve ever wondered why NFL quarterbacks get paid as much as they do compared to other players, and why they’re constantly put on a pedestal, this show might help put it into perspective. You see the incredible toll the game takes on their bodies, but also on their psyche. The mental preparation they have to go through to learn their playbooks is insane.

Kirk Cousins seems like a really quality person. The scenes with his family really stood out. He’s a strong family man and a good football player. It’s hard not to root for him. Pat Mahomes is grittier than he gets credit for, not to mention probably the best quarterback in the league right now. His ankle injury looked painful and it was hard not to root for him as well. (Brittany Mahomes is a little annoying, but funny. She’s a spirited girl.) Marcus Mariota had his struggles with the Falcons and you felt for him as he was doing everything he knew to do to help his team win.

You witness how much these guys care about the game and how much they care about winning in a way normally not accessible to the average football fan.

Quarterback is only eight episodes long and is absolutely worth watching if you’re an NFL enthusiast. It hasn’t been announced which quarterbacks are being filmed for Season Two yet, but it looks like the NFL might have another quality behind-the-scenes show to watch during the next long off-season.
