If you were thinking of playing Borderlands 3: Ultimate Edition on the Switch, you better have a lot of extra room on your SD card because, even if you buy the physical version, it still requires a massive download, anywhere from 60-70 GB. If you don’t have an SD card for your Switch, Borderlands 3 is unplayable, as the system’s native internal memory is only 32 GB. For the OLED, it’s 64 GB, but not all of that is available for storage. Even on Steam, Reddit is reporting that Borderlands 3: Ultimate Edition is about 140 GB.

On Switch, it’s being reported that you can choose which DLC packs you want to install at a given time, which will make it somewhat less onerous for Switch owners, but Borderlands 3 is one of the biggest games to hit the system regardless.

Physical game releases are becoming almost pointless. More and more games require the player to download most of the game regardless of what version they prefer. Even if you prefer physical versions of your games, they’ll give you a plastic case and cartridge, but you’re going to be downloading most of the game anyway.
