According to horror game inside Dusk Golem, a Resident Evil 9 announcement could be coming soon. He claims it’s been in development for seven years and was at one time considered to be Resident Evil 8 by Capcom, as they were both in development at the same time. He also says that Resident Evil 9 is “ambitious”, has the largest budget of any Resident Evil game in the series thus far, and could be out in January 2025.
Resident Evil 8 came out in 2021, so it will have been about four years between installments, not counting the Resident Evil 4 remake that released in 2023.
