Sega has announced Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., a remastered version of Virtua Fighter 5 with 4K visuals and rollback netcode, for PC.
During The Game Awards in 2023, Sega had a trailer called Power Surge in which they showed several of their dormant classic IPs that are being resurrected, and have games in active development. While it wasn’t shown specifically in that trailer, Virtua Fighter is a classic Sega IP that hasn’t seen a new installment in almost 20 years. With a remastered Virtua Fighter 5 being brought to PC, Sega could be preparing the market for a possible Virtua Fighter 6. They’re bringing back Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Shinobi, so why not?
There’s no release date for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. yet, so it’s most likely a 2025 title. Check out the announcement trailer below:
