Capcom has announced they’re working on the next major installment in the Onimusha series, called Onimusha: The Way of the Sword. Play as a samurai in Kyoto during the Edo-period in a world of swordplay, mysticism, and fantasy.

Onimusha started on the PlayStation 2 in 2001 with Onimusha: Warlords, and was a popular series on the console. Since then, sequels have been more sporadic, with Capcom cancelling planned remasters of Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3 due to low sales of the remaster of Onimusha: Warlords. Onimusha: The Way of the Sword marks the first return to the series in many years by Capcom, and if it sells well, maybe they’ll revive the remasters of Onimusha 2 and Onimusha 3.

Onimusha: The Way of the Sword is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2026. Check out the announcement trailer below:
