Intelligent Systems hasn’t made a new Advance Wars game since Advance Wars: Days of Ruin for the Nintendo DS in 2008. Developer LAVABIRD is trying to remedy that by creating their own military turn-based strategy game with Warside.

Anyone who’s played or seen an Advance Wars game will know immediately the audience Warside is aiming for. It looks exactly like Advance Wars to the point that if Nintendo had shown this trailer touting it as the next game in the series, I would’ve believed them. The pixel art looks impressive, and all the units, animations, and gameplay are present. It has a single-player campaign along with local and online PVP multiplayer, 12 different commanders each with their CO powers, and terrain-based combat.

Warside is coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in the spring of 2025. Check out the basic training trailer below:
