During the recent Pokemon Presents, Pokemon Legends: Z-A was given the spotlight and we got some details about the world, story, and gameplay. It will take place in Lumiose City, which is where Pokemon X & Y took place. Your starters will be your choice of Chikorita (grass type), Tepig (fire type), Totodile (water type). Your ally during your adventure will be named Urbane or Taunie depending on what your customized character looks like.
Like the original Pokemon Legends game, battling occurs in real-time in the wild zones where wild Pokemon are, as opposed to the turn-based battling of the traditional games. Mega Evolution will also be making a return.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be releasing late 2025 for Nintendo Switch. Check out the overview trailer below:
I just hope Game Freak fixes the obvious technical issues seen in the trailer. I have yet to play Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but that looks to be a good step for the Pokémon franchise. If this becomes a full-fledged series, that would be great!
By the way, I finally got to read your review of the New Super Mario Brothers subseries, which although I loved New Super Mario Brothers on the DS, I did not enjoy the Wii one as much. I have yet to play New Super Mario Brothers U or New Super Luigi U and barely started New Super Mario Brothers 2. Speaking of, what did you think about Super Mario Brothers Wonder?

You’re not missing much with the New Super Mario Bros. games. They’re good platformers, but they’re not wildly different from each other. Maybe the biggest aspect that bothers me is how much they recycled the music from game to game. Compare that to the tracks in Super Mario Odyssey. Night and day difference.
I’m somewhat ashamed to admit I have not played Super Mario Wonder yet. Part of it is my massive backlog and part of it is I’m waiting for Switch 2 to buy any more first-party Nintendo games. From everything I’ve read and heard, it’s more creative than the ‘New’ series, but could still more meat on the bone for a full $60 game.
As for Pokemon, the last game in the series I spent any serious time with was Pokemon Platinum. I like the series, but I’m very much a casual. Yeah, the most recent games don’t seem to run well at all, and they look like GameCube games. But they still sell tens of millions of copies sooo…..
