In an announcement that came out of the blue, a new Terminator 2 game is in development called Terminator 2D: NO FATE. It’s not a big AAA offering either, but a throwback, retro-style game that looks like it came straight from the arcades of the 1990s. Or as Mike Tucker, the Design Director and Programmer for developer Bitmap Bureau says ‘We feel like it’s the T2 game we should’ve had back in our youth.”
Amen to that. If this trailer is any judge of the final product, Terminator 2D will be adhering very closely to the film, with a mixture of gameplay types (run-and-gun, racing, beat-em-up, etc.), plus sequences from the future war with the machines that we only see flashes of. Also, it sounds like the code is very portable, so it’s possible Terminator 2D will be on as many systems as they can bring it to.
Terminator 2D: NO FATE will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 5, 2025. Check out the announcement and developer overview videos below:
