Tatsuya Kando has announced that he’s leaving Square-Enix after almost three decades at the company. The World Ends With You director posted on X that he’s deeply appreciative to the company and the fans that have played the games he’s worked on over the years, which has included Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve, and serving as the director on The World Ends With You on Nintendo DS in 2007 and NEO: The World Ends With You on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2021.

It sounds like he’s going to continue making games in some capacity, so we look forward to seeing what he does on his future projects and ventures.

On a personal note, I left Square Enix Co., Ltd. on May 31st. During my 29 years there, I was involved in many projects, including “Final Fantasy,” “Kingdom Hearts,” “The World Ends with You,” and many more… I was able to gain invaluable experience.

The feedback we received from everyone who played the game was very encouraging and became the driving force behind our daily development. I’m really grateful! Thank you so much! We will continue to work hard to create interesting content that will make everyone smile!
