Nintendo is taking a unique approach to showing off the hardware features of Switch 2: an interactive manual called Welcome Tour, that gives the player a hands-on demo of what the console can do through playing mini-games. It shows off the console’s HD rumble, resolution scaling, mouse functionality, motion controls, and a bunch of other stuff. It looks to be pretty in-depth for a mini-game collection with 20 mini-games, 14 tech demos, and 170 secrets to find.
Welcome Tour has been one of several sticking points for Switch owners who are looking to upgrade to Switch 2, claiming it would be much better as a free pack-in for the console. Instead, Nintendo is charging $10, which isn’t pricey by any stretch, but will likely limit its reach more so than if it came with every Switch 2 console. Even former Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime tacitly commented about it on social media reminiscing how he pressed Nintendo Japan to include Wii Sports as a pack-in for the Wii when Nintendo didn’t want to do it, which became a stunning success for Nintendo.
The Nintendo Switch 2 console and Welcome Tour releases June 5th, 2025. Check out the overview trailer below:
