Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is bringing what many believe to be the two best games in the series into the modern era, although with some caveats. All of the classic courses have been visually updated and made to look like a modern game. The skateboarding and trick system is just as addictive as its ever been. However, some executive decisions from Tony Hawk himself regarding the soundtrack has been made. Many of the songs from the original games have been cut and replaced. The reason for this could be licensing issues, but Tony Hawk has taken responsibility for all of the music changes, claiming he views the games that bear his name as an avenue to get music artists and bands in people’s ears who he believes deserve more of an audience.

Also, in the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, the two-minute timer in Career Mode was removed, opting to let the player explore the different areas and accomplish goals at their leisure. In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, the timer has been implemented for both games. However, you can extend the timer up to an hour in Tony Hawk 4, making it much less of an issue for those who want more of a pure experience like the original.

As for the skaters themselves, Bam Margera was noticeably absent when the game was first announced, but was subsequently added in. Doom Guy from the DOOM games, plus Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are unlockable skaters as well.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is out now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Check out the launch trailer below:
