Capcom showed off their second trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, or Resident Evil 9, recently at Gamescom. The three and a half minute sequence shows a young Grace Ashcroft, the main protagonist, busy on her laptop in what looks like a hotel bedroom as her mother Alyssa comes home. Rain is pouring down outside and the phone rings. Grace answers it, the voice on the other ends asks for a Ms. Ashcroft, and then hangs up. Immediately after, the lights in the room go out. Alyssa says ‘They’re coming’ and…well, I wouldn’t want to spoil it completely, but it’s appropriately scary and lives up to the Resident Evil name.
Resident Evil Requiem’s story focuses on Grace Ashcroft as she returns to the scene of her mother’s death years later to investigate another mysterious death. The gameplay will allow you to switch between third-person and first person in what Capcom is promising to be the most immersive Resident Evil yet.
Resident Evil Requiem releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on February 27, 2026. Check out the new trailer below:
