The Prince of Persia series has been through multiple incarnations over the decades, but The Rogue Prince of Persia is the first time we’ve seen it in 2D in quite a while, and the first we’ve ever seen it as a roguelike. Evil Empire, the developer behind the fantastic Dead Cells, has been working on The Rogue Prince of Persia and guiding it through its Early Access period for months, and it’s now out of Early Access as an official release. All the parkour and acrobatics the series is know for is present, including wall-running, allowing you to seamlessly combine traversal and combat together as you move and fight. Like any roguelite, you will die, and die some more, which only makes you stronger as you carry your upgrades with you to your next run.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and will release later this year for Nintendo Switch/Switch 2. Check out the release trailer and commentary video below:
