The SHINOBI series has been dormant for quite a while at this point, as it’s only seen one entry in over two decades. Sega and developer LizardCube, who made the the fantastic Streets of Rage 4, are changing that with the release of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance featuring a new, hand-drawn art style. Joe Musashi returns as the main protagonist and sets out on a quest of vengeance after the citizens of his village have been turned to stone. It’s receiving great reviews from everywhere, with some even claiming it could be a game of the year contender. If you like the SHINOBI series, 2D action games, or played Streets of Rage 4 and enjoyed it, definitely give this one a look.
