Masters of the Universe maybe doesn’t have the same cache as it did in the 1980s when it was one of the biggest IPs in the land, but it still lends itself well to video games, and a 2D brawler might be the perfect genre to scratch that nostalgia itch. Bitmap Bureau, who made the excellent Terminator 2D: No Fate, is working on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction with Limited Run Games publishing. They’re promising high-detail pixel-art, twelve total stages, and two-player local co-op, with some deep-cut villains as well.

Play as either He-Man, Man-At-Arms, or Teela against Skeletor’s forces after he discovers the apocalyptic Dragon Pearl of Destruction, with She-Ra being an unlockable playable character. Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, and Trap Jaw will be present and accounted for as well. Not to mention Battle Cat!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 28, 2026. Check out the gameplay trailer below:
