During the recent Summer Game Fest presentation, Capcom confirmed what had been rumored for months, that the next Resident Evil remake will indeed be Resident Evil: Code Veronica, originally released on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000. Titled Resident Evil Veronica, this version will feature a reimagined story, much like the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. Set three months after the events of the original Resident Evil, Claire Redfield sets out to look for her brother Chris after the mansion incident. She’s stalked by Umbrella Special Forces, kidnapped, and taken to a remote island that has suffered its own biological disaster. Madness ensues.
Capcom is promising significantly enhanced visuals and modernized gameplay, most likely similar to what we’ve seen in the past remakes.
Resident Evil Veronica will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC in 2027. Check out the reveal trailer below:
