Developer Pearl Abyss has been working overtime since Crimson Desert launched last March. Since then, they’ve released over 20 big patches and updates, and now their Charting the Unknown expansion adds dozens more hours to their already massive open-world role-playing game.
The story content revolves around Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka and serve as epilogues to the base game. The rest of the content will have you exploring the ocean in your own custom-made ship, engaging in naval warfare, and exploring the depths in full scuba gear for treasure and lost ruins. Relationships can now blossom into marriage (and divorce), you can customize and manage liberated strongholds and engage in trade, and the housing is now fully customizable in the interior and exterior. Also, a boss rush mode will have you fighting earlier bosses to test your combat skills. Lastly, new Abyss Gear items allow for new combat builds without altering the skill tree.
Crimson Desert is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. (Note: You must own the base Crimson Desert game to play it, as this is not a standalone expansion.) Check out the features overview trailer below:
