The video game industry has mostly moved on from motion-controls, but Nintendo hasn’t. They still champion them and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is the next iteration of the Wii Sports series that had soccer moms and senior citizens buying Wii consoles in 2007.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will launch with twelve sports:
- Tennis
- Bowling
- Archery
- Boxing
- Volleyball
- Table Tennis
- Basketball
- Golf
- Thumb Wrestling
- Prop Plane
- Skateboarding
- Power Cruising
Most are returning from previous entries, but Jump Rope, Thumb Wrestling, and Skateboarding are brand new. Nintendo is almost assuredly going to add future content as well, hopefully without extra cost.
The Island Crown mode will have you rising up the ranks to eventually take on the Island Champion for each sport. Every sport also has extra mini-game challenges, or you can explore and sightsee Wuhu Island’s landmarks casually, all which unlock in-game achievements and cosmetics.
Multiplayer is a big component, as Nintendo’s Sports series are popular party games. You can create your own rooms in online multiplayer, as well as compete in global leaderboards that unlock cosmetics for your Mii characters the higher you rise.
