Star Fox 64 was originally released on the Nintendo 64 in 1997 and is one of the most beloved games in the Nintendo 64’s library to this day. Nintendo has brought it back for Switch 2 with a stunning new coat of graphical paint and polish, with completely redone character models, new cutscenes, new voice-overs, new story bits, a new orchestral soundtrack, a new Challenge Mode, and expanded online and local multiplayer. Fox, Peppy, Slippy, and Falco are all back and ready to save the Lylat system once again from Dr. Andross.

This isn’t the first time Nintendo has brought back Star Fox 64. They released a remake on the 3DS in 2011 called Star Fox 64 3D, as well as Star Fox Zero on the Wii U, which was basically a reimagining of Star Fox 64, but with controls that were not well-received and many felt were unintuitive and difficult to learn. Nintendo looks to be starting over with this new entry and simply calling it Star Fox, perhaps because they’re hoping to make a new beginning for the series. Hopefully, that means an actual new game in the future, which Star Fox fans haven’t gotten for quite a long time.
